Our Beliefs

Faith Statement for Zion Lutheran Church

In our LCMS Lutheran church, we hold the following faith statement, grounded in the Holy Bible, as our guiding principles

The employees of Zion Lutheran Church and All God’s Children CDC strive to live out these beliefs, guided by our faith in God and His Word, while showing Christ’s Love to the world around us.

The Bible

We believe that the Bible is the inspired and inerrant Word of God, Serving as our ultimate authority in matters of faith and life. As 2 Timmothy 3:16-17 states, “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.”

God

We confess faith in the Triune God Father, Son, and Holy Spirit- as revealed in the Bible. We worship the one true God, as proclaimed in Deuteronomy 6:4: “Here, O Israel: The Lord our God, The Lord is one.”

Jesus Christ

We acknowledge Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, who through His Life, death, and resurrection offers salvation to all. John 3:16 reminds us, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”

Human Beings

We affirm the dignity of every human being, created in the image of God (Genesis 1:27), and recognize the inherent worth and value of all people.

Sexuality and Gender Identity

We believe that sexuality and gender identity are gifts from God, to be expressed within the bounds of a loving, monogamous marriage between one man (born male) and one woman (born female), as established in Genisis 2:24.

Grace and Faith

We embrace salvation by God’s grace alone through faith in Jesus Christ following Ephesians 2:8-9, “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing: it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.”

Marriage

We hold to the sanctity of marriage, defined by Scripture, where one man (born male) and (one woman born female), become one flesh in a lifelong commitment. Mark 10:7-9 teachers, “Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh. So, they are no longer two but one flesh.”

Sanctity of Life & Abortion

We believed in the sanctity of human life form conception to natural death, adhering to Psalm 139:13-16, “For you formed me inward parts: you knitted me together in my mother’s womb.”

Tolerance

We advocate for love and understanding in our interaction with others, even those with differing beliefs, as 1 Corinthians 16:14 reminds us, “Let all that you do be done in love.”

Non-Harassment

We are committed to maintaining a safe and welcoming environment in our church, rejecting harassment, discrimination, or harm towards any individual. Galatians 5:22-23 encourages us to “But the fruit of the Sprit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control: against such things there is no law.”
